I contacted Dan Swords of Swords construction in May 2010 and asked him for a quote on replacing my roof shingles for my home in Fredericksburg VA which were in pretty bad shape. Dan came out to my house personally and did a thorough inspection of my roof from the outside and also from the attic. He discovered additional water damage that I had not previously seen and showed me what to look for. After talking with him and getting some recommendations as to the best possible solutions, We agreed on $5500.00 for the job.Dan and his crew showed up bright an early as scheduled on a Monday morning at about 6:00am . By the time I got home from work not only was the roofing job completed but his crew had completely cleaned up and were in the process of leaving. I have to tell you it's hard to find good trustworthy contractors these days who you can trust with your home and expect quality work for, Dan Swords is one of them. His crew removed approximately 1800 sq ft of double layer shingles, repaired two large sections of plywood that had been water damaged, replaced all the roof vent boots and also replaced the chimney flashing. Dan did not use cheap tin flashing but quality copper flashing and did a great job of sealing it up. To this day I have not had a single problem with my roof leaking, I have been through many severe storms and have not lost any tiles. I now have no leaks and my new roof looks great and it will be the last roof I have to put on this house. I highly recommend Swords construction to anyone looking for a quality job. If I could sum up Swords construction in four words it would be: Quality, honesty, integrity and professionalism!
